FCLE Prep Pass ("this app," "we") is an independent, unofficial study tool for the Florida Civic Literacy Exam. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We are not affiliated with the State of Florida, the FCLE, or any college or university.
Information we collect
- If you don't sign in: your quiz progress (scores, attempts, theme preference) is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device. We never see it.
- If you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google, through Firebase Authentication, so the app can identify your account.
- Synced progress: once signed in, your quiz scores and attempt history are stored in our database (Firestore), tied to your account, so they follow you across devices.
- Usage data: if Google Analytics or Google Ads is active on this site, Google may collect standard usage data (pages viewed, approximate location from IP address, device/browser type) via cookies, under Google's own privacy policy.
How we use this information
- To let you sign in and keep your practice progress in sync across your devices.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it.
- If running, to measure the performance of advertising that supports this free tool.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers named below, who process it on our behalf.
Where your data lives
This app runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, and Hosting). Access to your synced progress is restricted by database security rules so that only your own signed-in account can read or write it — no other user, and nobody browsing this site, can see your data.
Third-party services
- Firebase / Google Cloud — hosting, authentication, and database storage.
- Google Fonts — loads web font files from Google's servers.
- Google Analytics / Google Ads (if enabled) — usage measurement and, if ads are shown, ad delivery and performance tracking.
Each of these is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your progress and preferences (like light/dark mode) when you're not signed in. If Google Analytics or Ads is active, Google may also set cookies for measurement and ad personalization — you can control these through your browser settings or Google's Ad Settings.
Your choices
- You can use the app fully without signing in — nothing leaves your device.
- You can sign out at any time from the Account tab.
- You can ask us to delete your synced account data by contacting us below.
- Clearing your browser's site data removes anything stored locally on that device.
Children's privacy
This app is intended for college students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
